 | Rugby is only part of a player’s life
– allow for this in your demands of them; |
 | Consider furthering your ability by
going on a RFU Coaching course; |
 | Be aware of Child Protection issues and
guidelines; |
 | Involve parents; |
 | Treat games as lessons, not as tests; |
 | Get assistance to achieve the right
ratio of coaches to players; |
 | You need many players – treat them all
as equal and valued; |
 | Understand child development and the
physical, intellectual and emotional capabilities of the players; |
 | Playing rugby requires mutual respect
– teach the meaning of fair play; |
 | Be constructive and encourage; |
 | There is no merit in putting a weak team
up against a strong one; |
 | The continuum was constructed with a
great deal of thought – abide by it – it is part of the laws; |
 | Learn & understand the laws; |
 | Teach players by your own example to
respect the Ref; |
 | Both look & act like a coach; |
 | Start on time & finish on time; |
 | Plan both your sessions & season; |
 | Do not encourage or allow players to
play with an injury; |
 | Avoid situations where your relationship
with the players could be called to question; |
 | Winning &/or losing are only
by-products of performance; |
